The Vicar of Dibley β Live at Marden Theatre!

The Vicar of Dibley is a warm comedy that follows Geraldine Granger as she arrives in the village of Dibley to become its first female vicar, much to the shock of its eccentric inhabitants. Written at a time when female vicars were both new and controversial, the play provides social commentary as well as creating its own island of iconic and unconventional characters. Come along and meet the rather dim verger Alice, pompous chairman David, his indecisive son Hugo, the incomprehensible Jim, the (rather too) straight-talking Owen, inventive cook Letitia and boring Frank the clerk.
Originally The Vicar of Dibley aired on TV between 1994 and 2000, shortly after the ordination of women was permitted by the Church of England. This script is a stage adaptation by Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter, based on the original TV series written by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer and produced by Tiger Aspect Productions. Licensing and script fees for this production are donated by the writers and producers to Comic Relief.
